Anushka relocated to Mumbai after completed her graduation and enrolled herself at the Elite Model Management, and was coached by the stylist Prasad Bidapa. Anushka debuted as a model for 2017 in Wendell Rodricks Les Vamps Show at Lakme Fashion Week. He picked her as his final model for the collection for Spring/Summer 2007. After her modeling debut in Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did several campaigns for brands like her campaigns to promote the brand's Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry as well as Fiat Palio etc. Anushka started giving auditions for film along with her modelling. Anushka Sharma's first acting role was in the 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi alongside Shah Rukh Khan. She took one day to prepare for her screen test and refused to perform an impromptu version. She was later contracted to do three films with the Yash Raj Films label. In the film, she performed the role of a young girl who married a middle aged man (the role Shah Rukh Khan is playing). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka starred with Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang and Vir Das in the film Badmash Company. The film received mixed reviews. Anushka played a Punjabi girl who was from middle class in the movie called 'Band Baaja Baaraat.' She starred alongside Ranveer. The film received a positive review. Anushka's contract for three films at Yash Raj Films ended with Band Baaja Baaraat.
